Tips For Dealing With Dental Emergencies
While you are on your way to our office, here are some tips for dealing with your dental emergency before you get to us.
Cracked or Broken Teeth – Rinse your mouth out with warm water immediately, rinsing multiple times if necessary. If you are also experiencing swelling, hold an ice pack or cold compress to the affected area. Call us immediately.
Severe Pain – Rinse your mouth with warm water to clean out any food particles and other bacteria. Use floss to remove any bits that may be stuck between your teeth. Do not apply aspirin directly to the aching area, but you could take a pain reliever orally to help dull the pain. If there is swelling, use a cold compress to soothe the area. Call us immediately.
Knocked Out Tooth (For Adults) – Keep the tooth moist by holding it between your cheek and gums or placing it in a small cup of milk. If you must handle the tooth, hold it by the top/crown and be wary not to touch the root. If there is swelling, an ice pack or cold compress could help. See a dentist immediately to attempt to save the tooth. Call us immediately.
